Michelle Ouellet (she/her)  is an award-winning Canadian director and one of Playback Magazine’s 10-to-Watch. Her feature directorial debut, Hooked on Speedman was the recipient of the Maple Leaf Award for Best Canadian Film at The Prince Edward Island International Film Festival and was nominated for three Canadian Comedy Awards, including best direction of a film. Hooked on Speedman was picked up for distribution by EOne and enjoyed a successful television/VOD run for the better part of a decade.  Michelle’s second feature film, Afterparty went on to make its world premiere at The Whistler Film Festival and won the William F. White Reel Indie Award and an Award for Best Ensemble at Toronto's Canadian Film Festival. You can currently watch Afterparty on iTunes courtesy of Mongrel Media. In addition to her feature film work, Michelle has found success in the world of Digital Media as the sole director of the critically-acclaimed sci-fi mash-up series The True Heroines, which has been featured in USA Today, The Vancouver Province and The Huffington Post. For her work on The True Heroines Michelle was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Digital Media and won awards at The Leo Awards (Best Web Series), Vancouver Web Fest (Best Canadian Series), LA Web Fest (Best Direction, Best Series-Dramedy) and HollyWeb Fest. Michelle has continued her work in Digital Media as Executive Producer and Series Director of the IPF funded and TELUS OPTIK Original Paranormal Solutions Inc. which just wrapped its second season and directed five episodes of the web-comic White Ninja starring Paul Scheer. Michelle's third feature Prodigals starring David Alpay, Sara Canning and Kaniehtiio Horn enjoyed a successful cross Canada theatrical run with The National Post praising Ouellet's "...nimble direction and fully realized sketch of Northern Ontarians,” while In The Seats called Prodigals “a deeply nuanced examination of fear, choices and regret.” For her work on Prodigals Michelle was awarded The Whistler Film Festival Inaugural Talent-to-Watch Award and was nominated for The Borsos Prize later that year. Up next: Michelle is directing an adaptation of Dave Deveau's critically acclaimed play Tiny Replicas which has been supported for development by The Harold Greenberg Fund and Telefilm Canada and is being produced by Comedy Bar Films and her procedural pilot (co-created with Nicholas Carella) Ethics 101 which was developed through The National Screen Institute’s Totally TV is currently optioned by Sphere Media. When Michelle is not developing her own material she has a busy career directing original content for: Lifetime, Crave, UPTV, Hulu and Alter to name a few. You can catch her latest movie Stolen Baby: The Murder of Heidi Broussard starring Emily Osment on Lifetime September 23rd and the latest season of Paranormal Solutions Inc. this fall on Alter.
